WEN PAN AW18 collection aims to find the beauty in brokenness. Inspired by a crack on a vintage postcard, the collection brings together the aesthetics of ruins and the softness in femininity, to create a character with subtle resistance. China is experiencing a huge change on urbanization, these ruins are used to be people’s home, but some people are not moving, as they don’t want to leave their original home. We can see a resistance through it, and want to show this resistance poetically, by combining fragility and roughness. The use of rough wools and delicate lace are combined with hand crafted cracks, flowing lines and asymmetrical cuts, representing a nostalgic image with traces of time and memories.
